The Crypto Gibraltar Festival 2022 will take place from September 22-24 and will bring together the world of crypto business and the new world of the metaverse.
Festival organizer Pete Burgess says: “Gibraltar’s foundation as a financial jurisdiction is regulation, which is often seen as old world, but Gibraltar is also an enabler and hotbed of cutting-edge innovation, especially in the financial sector. Payments”.
He continues: “In a sense, Gibraltar is a microcosm of the DeFi/CeFi debate. It introduced the first DLT regulatory framework which has attracted many of the world’s largest crypto operators such as Bitso, eToroX and LMAX Digital, and yet many cryptocurrency purists will say that this regulation encourages centralization, quite the opposite of the original philosophy of cryptocurrencies. That “tension” is what produces great debates and scenic content at the Crypto Gibraltar Festival”.
This year, the festival will attract more than 1,000 people and will be based in a specially created “Crypto Village” next to the Gibraltar airport. It will have a 700-seat theater, an exhibition area, an NFT gallery and a networking room.
“The main reason people attend conferences is to connect. Many people go to conferences and never set eyes on a stage. Burgess says. “Crypto Gibraltar is primarily a networking event and is structured to facilitate it. We have two half-days of serious conference sessions, but we also have a purpose-built networking room and we create enough time slots during the day to make productive use of it.”
Crypto Gibraltar also makes sure that delegates enjoy their nights. In 2021 the Friday party was held in a cave inside the Rock of Gibraltar with a light and sound show that reproduced the rock formation. This year they are going to continue with the theme of uniting different worlds, but in this case it is about the real world and the metaverse.
“We are going to create an immersive metaverse experience where we will broadcast DJs performing in a metaverse club but in the real world.” Burgess says. “We’re working with DJenerates – NFT’s premier collection that celebrates electronic music and features top-class DJs and artists from the TOP 100 DJs list – and to finish off we’re also going to have Hipworth – the founder of this business who for By the way, he’s also an NFT artist – he’s going to play live.”
The experience will allow attendees to experience both worlds at the same time, with musicians on screen and access to the metaverse via mobile. Those who are there that night will be able to interact with people in the metaverse, but also see them in the real world and connect with them. “We think it will be a world first,” concludes Burgess.
Crypto Gibraltar is a must-see event for anyone serious about the cryptocurrency business.
